Dr. Nicolas Oddone Baridon

Dr Nicolas Oddone Baridon MBBS, MS, MD, FRACS main interest is thyroid surgery (endocrine surgeon). He has been instrumental in the introduction of minimally invasive thyroid surgery and video assisted techniques to Australia.

Dr. Oddone Baridon obtained his medical degree in Uruguay, South America. After finishing his general surgery training he moved to Australia to complete his specialisation and subspecialty training.

In terms of subspecialty training in 2005 and 2006 he underwent two years of Upper GI training at the Maciel University Hospital in Uruguay and subsequently in Adelaide at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

In 2007 and 2008 Dr. Oddone Baridon underwent 2 years of postgraduate fellowship training in Head and Neck surgery and Surgical Oncology at the Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre at Westmead Hospital.

Dr. Nicolas Oddone-Baridon's practice includes the spectrum of common general surgery pathologies with a subpecialty interest in Head and Neck surgery, paticulary Endocrine surgery and within Surgical Oncology: Melanoma and Non Melanoma Skin cancer.

Within Endocrine surgery he specialises in minimally invasive approaches for thyroid surgery, parathyroid surgery and salivary gland surgery.

As a Surgical Oncologist, he also provides care for Melanoma and Non melanoma skin cancers as well as Soft tissue tumours. He maintains a keen interest in Head and Neck malignancies.

Dr. Oddone Baridon is an avid researcher. His main research interest is new anatomical approaches for minimally invasive thyroid surgery. This has been the topic of his masters degree dissertation.

Dr. Oddone Baridon is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS), the only statutory recognised body for training of surgeons in Australia. A member of the Australian Society of Endocrine Surgeons (AES), General Surgeons Australia (GSA), AMA (Australian Medical Association), SCU (Sociedad de Cirugía del Uruguay) and SMU (Sindicato Médico del Uruguay).

Dr Nicolas Oddone Baridon is fluent in English, Spanish and Italian. He also speaks a little German and Hungarian.
